I was blindsided by the amount of waste we create in our convenience-obsessed society. It completely changed the way I think about our planet, and our potential to change things - Sally

In need of a little inspiration on your journey to a more sustainable life? We’ve interviewed 6 women, mums like you and me, who are on their own sustainable journey, to ask them how they manage it, what their top tips are, and how they stay motivated.

For our last in the series up, we’ve got a double whammy from the incredible co-founders of pre-loved children’s wear company Pure Bundle

A bit about you

Hi, we're Sally & Thais, the co-founders of Pure Bundle @pure_bundle. Pure Bundle’s mission is to make it effortless and fun to buy (and sell) preloved children’s clothes.

Both of us grew up by the beach, in Australia & Brazil, before moving to London.

We were introduced across the oceans, when Sal @sallygiblin1 was still living in Australia & Thais @thaisbloss was in London, due to our mutual obsession to make fashion circular.

We have three boys between us - two of which happen to be Leos!

What inspired you to live more sustainably?

Sally: For me, it was watching the War On Waste series a few years ago. I was blindsided by the amount of waste we create in our convenience-obsessed society. It completely changed the way I think about our planet, and our potential to change things.

Thais: Amazing humans I met in my journey! In 2016 I took part in a social enterprise leadership programme in London called On Purpose and the people I met there really cared about the people and our planet (more than profit). Through On Purpose I worked on a sustainability project to make it financially viable to resell old carpets. I was shocked by the amount of waste created by the building sector and fell in love with the Circular Economy and Systems Change.

What have you done and what difference has it made?

Sally: It’s been - and continues to be! - tiny steps over time. I started with reducing single use items, then began focusing on sustainable fashion, and now I’m transitioning to a more plant based diet.

Thais: I’ve reduced my consumption. Everything you buy has a positive and a negative impact so I take much longer to decide what I buy and who I buy from. I buy locally sourced food and durable products as much as possible. Just by going to the local farmers market you support local businesses and avoid all the plastic. It has made me buy less and connect more with the people living in my area. Nobody is perfect and even though I don’t have a car I fly to Brazil to see family every year and that has a huge impact.

What advice would you give to parents who struggle to fit eco changes into their hectic lives?

Sally: Having a young family is an absolute whirlwind, it’s such a busy time of life. So I’d say, start with simple changes. Don’t put too much pressure on yourself to live the perfect sustainable life! It’s much better that we’re all making small changes :)

Choose carefully what you buy (quality, where it comes from) and who you buy from (does that company care about the world and its employees?). Realise your power as a consumer and wake up to the power of your wallet- Thais

Thais: We started Pure Bundle to make it effortless for parents to buy second hand clothes for children, so you can also check it out! But apart from that, children don’t need as much as they try to sell us, so don’t buy so much. Choose carefully what you buy (quality, where it comes from) and who you buy from (does that company care about the world and its employees?). Realise your power as a consumer and wake up to the power of your wallet.

Your number 1 eco swap…

Sally: Swapping fast fashion for preloved fashion. Vestiaire Collective is my go to for finding pieces from beautiful brands in amazing condition.

Thais: I have been to a fashion swap event recently and I absolutely loved it, you can meet new people and other mums. We should have more of those.

Whats the 1 song that never fails to give you a hit of inspiration?

Sally: Junk Of The Heart (Happy) by The Kooks. It was my wedding dance song with my husband :)

Thais: Bohemian Rhapsody by the Queen. It’s my kids favourite!
